For those patients or families seeking information regarding Dr. Schottenstein’s practice, here are some answers to questions you may have.
Dr. Schottenstein has been a practicing psychiatrist since1995. He is board certified in both child & adolescent as well as general psychiatry. Please note that geriatric psychiatry is not a subspecialty of Dr. Schottenstein’s practice.
Dr. Schottenstein has a solo outpatient private practice in Bexley, where he sees children, adolescents, and adults for psychotropic medication management and psychotherapy. He is not a provider for any of the managed care plans. If his name should appear on your health plan provider list, this is outdated information for coverage of inpatient services only and does not apply to private practice visits. His practice is a traditional fee-for-service one, which means one pays cash or check at the time of the visit. We are not set up for credit card, debit card, or health savings account card transactions. Additionally, he does not accept Medicare or Medicaid. Dr. Schottenstein may issue you a receipt, which you may then submit to the insurance company for any out-of-network benefit or reimbursement. These reimbursements are then sent to you and not to the doctor.
The cost for an initial evaluation for an adult, child or adolescent is $600. The length of these initial appointments is 1½ hrs. The follow-up appointments for medication management are initially every month, last 25 minutes, and currently cost $230. Once the medication regimen is established, these monthly appointments can be extended to every 2, 3, 4 or even 6 months.
We are located in Bexley at 2700 E. Main Street near the intersection of Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. There is parking surrounding the building. When you arrive for your appointment, you will want to come into the building and up to Suite 201, which is our waiting room. There is no receptionist; Dr. Schottenstein will come in and introduce himself. You will find a registration form on the coffee table, and if you have a moment to fill it out while you are waiting, it will save you from doing it later. If you prefer, you could print this New Patient Registration Form, complete it, and bring it with you to your appointment.
Dr. Schottenstein typically sees patients Mondays through Thursdays between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM and on Fridays between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Openings for New Patient appointments can typically be scheduled within 10 days.
